THINK Together receives $10,000 Grant For Workforce Development and Internships From Bank of America
Santa Ana, CA. (May 16, 2016) – THINK Together is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from Bank of America that supports THINK Together’s Perris and Heritage high school internship programs.
This generous support from Bank of America will allow THINK Together to provide paid internships for 14 juniors and seniors. Students participate in an employment process that incorporates application and resume workshops, interviewing workshops, and basic employment conduct and expectations training.
THINK Together’s Human Capital staff will conduct interviews and training for students in the same manner and rigor that new employees experience when they are on-boarded to THINK ‘s staffing platform. “Students will be interviewed by representatives from their high school and the district and the community to better prepare them for future careers,” says Randy Barth, CEO of THINK Together.
After 4 weeks of training, students will participate in a 10-week employment session at THINK after-school programs, elementary and middle schools in Perris. Interns at school sites will be supervised by THINK Program Leaders under the direction of THINK Site Coordinators.
“Benchmarks will be developed to help interns gain skills to engage, teach and work with students while strengthening their own skills,” says Barth. Interns at local businesses will be under the daily supervision of site managers in collaboration with THINK staff.
A Financial Literacy component is also required as a part of the program to ensure that student participants receive a complete workforce readiness experience. After completing Financial Literacy training, interns will receive a $300 program completion award. Students also receive bus passes, if needed, and program incentives.
